If something that is global, why did Europe outsource refining to Russia, then to India and China? It's not like that lessens emissions.

There is also climate change which is driven mainly by the cyclical variations in the Earths orbit round the Sun.
This has caused the sea levels to rise 120m before a single steam engine was operating and is still causing the Earth to warm.
