
UCD Earth Institute coffee morning research talk on the effective governance of climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction by Ronan McDermott (UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science), 19 September 2024.
This presentation provides an initial overview of the central role of governance in achieving climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction objectives. The presentation then introduces a range of completed and ongoing projects centred around the enablers and barriers to the effective governance of these inter-related fields. Amongst the aspects touched upon include the importance of societal risk perception in informing climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction, governance responses to various forms of mobility triggered by risk, as well as the role of digital participatory platforms.
