A £4 billion project to build an industrial-scale carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) facility in North East England has been approved by the Government.
Work on the Net Zero Teesside project, led by BP and Equinor, is set to start by the end of this year with operations expected to begin in 2027.
The proposed power station will generate up to 860 megawatts of low-carbon electricity – enough to power up to 1.3 million UK homes, according to South Tees Development Corporation.
Ecotricity’s Dale Vince says he’s “not a fan” of carbon capture, amid Keir Starmer pledging £22 billion on the Green project to ‘boost growth and cut emissions’.
“It’s been operating in Norway for 30 years – it’s not working! We need to give up fossil fuels completely.”

Haven't seen any comment that makes sense or is even factually correct. Says a lot about the people commenting here. At least it's just a minority otherwise I would be worried 😂.
He wants to look young
Co2 makes plants grow.Do'nt the townies know that.If not,why not.
I had a similar idea for air pollution when i was like 10 years old using filters on the sides of the roads. Wish I'd have flogged it to the government, they buy in to any old shite. 😂
Without CO2 all
living things die.
There is not one climate study that shows CO2 having any effect on temperature change . It is all assumptions
None of it adds up. Everything they are doing in the name of net zero is adding more co2. It's absolutely bonkers
Dale Vince should get in touch with me. It’s not the answer. There is better way that will make Britain another Monaco. Now doesn’t suit everyone no matter what party we follow. I agree everything this man says. It’s not worth the money.
Vince sells electricity and gas/oil are direct competitors to his business.
CO2 makes up only 0.038 per cent of the atmosphere.
CO2 is our friend. We are currently at 400ppm. When the dinosaurs were alive, it was approx 7000ppm. That was when most plant life thrived. We need more, not less.
Horrible man. Just out to make money to finance his woeful football club!
carbon capture another way to steel our money.
Nice job Mike 👋
£22 billion – you could by your own black hole for that amount. Anyone who thinks we can manage without fossil fuels is deluded.
Someone saying CO2 "is incredibly harmful to the whole environment of the planet" is a simplistic fruit loop as without CO2 life is 100% extinct on the planet (sea life and all of life even bacteria and viruses)! That is a typical activist stance where these "do gooder" people types will get everyone and everything extinct far quicker than if they simply left things alone (kept quite)! Nees to go back to school and study a little biology…
Carbon capture is probably the most expensive way to remove carbon from the atmosphere!
However it makes loads of money for the elitists again where the tax payer pays for lavish lifestyles for the elitists and get nothing in return except a good kicking and told to pay more for everything!. Smell a scam since 2012 (yes, the planet has warmed but the way the science works nowadays is far too power and politically biased now) not one of the green activists 300 prophacies has occured over the past 30 years and nothing has happened with CO2 since then (keeps incrementing the same) except loads of noise, fallacious green energy that emits more CO2 during manufacture than they can save in their lifetimes and loads of politicians going on jollies all at tax payer expense. We live in a time of puppet political idiots and elitist greed as they can control the population with their code worded NET ZERO (obviously meaning Net Zero Humans by 2050).
Co2 harmful to the planet ???? what a complete idiot 🙄 no co2 no life
Mike and Vince very enjoyable make it a weekly slot at least Vince has a sense of humour
It’s so cold in his office he has to wear what looks like a terrorists scarf , i guess it’s heated by one of those stupid pumps
Get some scientists on who know what they’re talking about with regards to Co2, there’s plenty out there, the whole anthropogenic climate change thing is a scam…
They did get the Maths wrong. It's nine times MORE expensive.
What "industry" is that?
Carbon capture is an expensive gimmick. The CO2 will leak out.
CO2 or carbon dioxide is NOT toxic!
Basically Ecotricity is a giant Ponzie scheme!
It’s all about taking more money from the tax payer, more lies and corruption
CO2 toxic really … what to plants and trees need Dale? 🤔
Imagine storing all that co2 under water and a nordstream fiasco takes place 🤷♂️
Nothing but a big scam we all paying for again
Dale Vince just scum, main sponsor for Just stop Oil.
Oil Beef Hooked
Ah Dale always sniffs when he’s been caught out, green argument always falls apart
Whys he always dress like he has come back from Lebanon
“We need to give up fossil fuels and buy into my company”
Can there be an expose on how Dale Vince’s business was supported and benefited from tax payer funding and/or grants, and how profitable it would be without without this funding
Beginning to like DV 👍
CO2 is not a pollutant and we need more of it, not less
As Sting said…..every breath you take you give out co2,
Can't be that dangerous then…
FFS, CO2 is NOT a poison and NOT harmful to the planet – all life depends on it. We already have CO2 capture anyway, they're called trees and work incredibly well by all accounts. The oceans and algae soak up billions of tons of it every year too. Put some of these efforts and money into stopping deforestation and the earth will breath just fine.
CO2 is innocent. according to the Open University CO2 absorbs long wave radiation (heat) from the atmosphere causing it to vibrate and re-emit it back into the atmosphere at the wame wavelength. Heat out equals heat back in so where is the warming?????
