  1. Apart from extinction of fossil fuels being a lie, population-migration is happening also without drought or flooding pushing people away from their habitat.
Elon Musk is a Wizard of Oz, selling clever constructed fairy tales, just like any horse-and-cart driver offering his magic potion to villagers who lived in the dark ages.

Elon Musk will avoid the sorting hat of Hogwart's School at all costs. He's an instrument of evil forces and only a Harry Potter type of human being is needed to slay that musky smelling dragon, with his delusional plan to repopulate Mars. 👋👩‍🌾

  2. I believe Elon knows what he is saying is garbage… He is just caught up in this new culture war… In Australia we have right wingers seriously advocating nuclear power in the sunniest nation in the world with an already zero retail rate in midday with the huge amoung of rooftop solar… All because your "woke" apparently if you show the cost effectiveness of renewables…

  3. Temperature recording stations didn't exist before the 1870's as prior thermometer readings were used in laboratory work or as expedition spectacles. Therefore, it is only possible to know the earlier temperatures through archeology, geology and history. Historical records contradict the idea that our climate today is the warmest and is going to lead to disaster: 1) the Vikings lived in Greenland for almost 300 years and farmed and raised sheep, but today's Greenland melting is supposed to be man made; 2) The Alps in Switzerland were ice free for 300 years during the Roman era, 250 BC to 50 AD, and there were well known trails there that are now being exposed due to melting glaciers, this melting is also blamed on man made climate change; 3) The glaciers in Glacier National Park were not there 7000 years ago, but when they melt today they are supposed to be doing so because of man made climate change; 4) the last interglacial period known as the Sangamonian Interglacial Period was 5 degrees C warmer than today as is known by ocean flora and fauna that today grow in the Caribbean, but grew off of the US coast as far north as Connecticut and Swamp fauna that grows in Louisiana was growing as far north as Minnesota.

  4. I like how Elon says something kinda dumb (massively understates the danger of oil/gas/coal burning), and then Trump just says something utterly nonsensical in response and makes him look like a f***ing genius.

I see why Musk wanted to talk to Donald Trump.

  5. There was nothing "bizarre" about this Elon/Trump exchange. This TDS bullshit needs to stop and adults have to grow up.

Also, Musk chose this lesser known argument against fossil fuels in order to get Trump's electorate into the whole "we need to lower carbon emissions" thing. It's actually reasonable and quite smart because Trump's electorate being more likely to benefit from local reindustrialization including fossil fuel industry, and climate change being a prerogative of the opposing oligarchic camp, said Trump electorate has an epidermic reaction to the global warming discourse. When propagating such an argument, Elon's end goal may very well be to lobby for his electric cars business, however, it is still positive if you consider that carbon emissions have to be reduced. Whether it's because you fear that temperature rises will disorganize the whole planet or that CO2 will slowly suffocate us all to death, the means of actions are roughly the same.

Trump, on another hand, is more of a populist and a strong man. He probably has a positive bias towards good old oil industry so even if he is sensible to Elon's proven capitalistic and industrial capabilities, he cannot be on board with the climate change thing. To me, the nuclear menace that Trump is brandishing may be more of a metaphor for global conflict that is accessible to his less educated electorate. War is after all a very immediate danger: I don't think Ukrainians are in a position of caring about climate change for now.

If we had had a strong poker player such as Trump instead of a senile old man who was continuously sending signals of weakness (remember numerous Biden's "don't attack but if you do, we will not do anything" statements), Putin would not have dared attack Ukraine.

  6. I agree with this, and people like Elon Musk and Donald trump are not climatologists but they are egotistical and ignorant, but because they put their interest first, they will dismissed the reality of the dangers climate change will create, chaos etc etc….

  7. Yes some energy sources are less damaging than others.
That said, every energy source (wind, waves, hydro, firewood, solar, fossil, geothermal, fission and soon maybe fusion, literally any source) WILL have an impact. If you found a way to substantially use the earth's rotation, that would have an impact. It could even slow earth's rotation if you peeled off some of it's rotational force. If you used outside fuel from a fancy asteroid, it would have an impact.

  8. But the point is exactly that: there has been great fluctuations through earth's history for CO2 levels. Sometimes rather quick. Yet, there were NO human activity, so therefore clearly, there IS a natural factor, and clearly we do not understand it all..

  9. Musk is a Neo fascist and trump is a wanna be dictator. trump will be defeated in the election and I trust that a Harris led government will make the buisness environment very hostile for Mr Musk.

  10. Personally I think humans are the wrose thing to arrive on the planet and it is inevitable that there will be some extinction or near extinction events because we are outgrowing our environment, Malthus was correct but just a bit early. I live n the countryside where I feed the birds, recycle and have no children…. I’m doing my bit. We have lots of Owles here :). The birds and rats will thrive long after we have all gone.

  11. They don't have time to adapt through natural selection? That makes no sense. Adapt or die. That IS natural selection. When CO2 RIses higher than will support human life, sure many a specie will fail to adapt and will go extinct, including humans. Other life forms will flurious.

  12. All of the environmental messaging changes when you isolate out "self preservation" from the human perspective. We want Earth to remain inhabitable by US. We have only been here a while, things have been fairly consistent over that time, so the prospect of a changing climate is a valid risk to us. Changing the perspective to remove the human desires from the equation and things look very different.

  13. It is unspoken that humans have exceeded the carrying capacity of the planet. The human answer is to reduce the number of humans by war as resources grow scarce. But the natural method is to reduce the birth rate. This has been achieved with China leading with the lowest numbers. Even the USA has numbers below two point one. So now is the problem that humans will slowly become extinct?

  14. Excellent episode, you may be a bit of a dreamer to think all humans could work together on solving a common problem.
I hope we do , getting everyone else on board will be difficult 😞 personally having cleaner air & water is enough for me!

  15. Bullshit warming is the real risk. Bullshits need too much energy to get caught, attacked and killed, and cannot escape our atmosphere. On the last one Musk is making also progress though and will send bullshitting guys to Mars soon…or it that also a bullshit?
