A Cabinet minister has denied that Sir Keir Starmer’s plans to slash red tape will lower standards as the Government seeks to woo investors at a major business summit.
Technology Secretary Peter Kyle said that “ripping out” bureaucracy to speed up innovation, as the Prime Minister has promised to do, would not lead to “cutting corners”.
Tory MP Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown joins Talk’s Julia Hartley-Brewer to discuss this further.

I am not a Tesla fan, but do like Elon and many of his views. With all that Starmer's is bitting his nose off to spite his face attitude is moronic. He should be encouraging Elon to build a Giga factory here and make cars, if he actually believes in net zero, this would create jobs look good for the Government and tick the green box. The inconvenient problem is every electric car made creates 20 tons of C02 over a petrol and diesel and thus takes ten years to starting producing less C02 and by that time needs another new 20 ton to make battery. Thus the lifetime C02 cost of Battery electric vehicles is higher and this does not include the fact that electricity is only 15% green.
