I was born in Cuba. Let me tell you a few things about living in a communist country. If youâre hungry, which most are, and you go fishing and catch a lobster you can face up to 6 years in prison. Owning a cow or eating beef is illegal. If youâre caught with either you can face up to 6 years in prison. Milk is illegal unless you have a family member under 7 or over 60. There are rations for everything. The government can come into your home at any time and search your home for what hey consider contraband. I thank God that he got us out of there in 1968. My father sacrificed so much to get us to freedom. We were stripped of everything we owned to be able to leave Cuba. It took 2 years for us to be allowed to leave. At the airport they even took my parentâs wedding bands away. When the plane was finally in the air my father started sobbing. Mom asked him what was wrong. All he could say was âWeâre finally free!â People assume that I am for any immigration. No!! I am for LEGAL immigration. The way my father got us to this great country. Legally. I am now a Christian and am so grateful for what Jesus did on the cross to save us and for him to encourage my father to bring us here. Iâm concerned that communism is already here.
