  1. One day, battery tech will catch up to make EV's viable, it isn't anywhere near or imminent, until then they are totally pointless for the majority of motorists and by that I include the national infrastructure, which is at collapsing point due to demand from other tech and population growth, including power generation from reliable sources under control of us not the weather. When that time arrives, no incentives will be needed, customers will be there, forcing them on us is not the solution to anyone.

  2. I don't know how much you play the leasing deal game, it isn't about make and model, its which manufacturer is the most desperate to dump stock , they assign the dealer/agent. I usually get a 12+23M 6k deal and target a TCO of £6k for a C/D segment vehicle. Have had 5 cycles so far mixture of EVs and Hybrids.

  3. So ignoring all of the comments that appear on your videos that are anti-EV for no good reason, and accepting that no, they're not the cheapest version of transport for many people, but also accepting that withstanding the unreasonable costs associated with maintaining them at the moment because of lack of competition, and because they're so new the parts are ridiculously expensive, the big question has to be why do so many people have this deep seated fear that is preventing them from buying them, and thus causing sales pressures ?

  4. Defo Conflict Of Interest… Totally Agree, These Amalgamations Are What Destroys Competition, Clarity, Honesty And Most Of All Choice . It's A Blackrock Situation Where No One Has Any Say Or Rights.

  5. Has your new iPhone really lost 8% of its capacity in just a year?
I expect they don’t lose capacity in a straight line manner. I’d expect an exponential, so that a certain % of Januarys capacity is lost to the next January, but it’ll be a reducing % of original capacity when new. Same basic algebra as radioactive decay.
From the little I know of battery electrochemistry, the rate of loss of capacity turns more on number of cycles than age. Usage & storage are also very important, but all else held equal, number of cycles is single most important factor.

This is people are shy of especially USED EVs. Range when brand new is one thing. But buy one that several years old and you have a major uncertainty. Has this car been used & stored in ways that have preserved the greatest amount of capacity? Or the very opposite?
The answer could be the difference between your car becoming suddenly worthless, or not.
That uncertainty kills interest until the used prices are so low that you’ll accept the uncertainty.
Unfortunately, that isn’t a business. In business, those in each of all essential stages must make a profit that represents a reward for the risks shouldered.

  6. 1.2 million EVs in the UK, 35 million ICE, so garages have plenty of work and are not equipped for working on high voltage – and are happy to stay that way. Its logical that ICE drivers are nervous to move to BEV because there are a lot more people slating the EVs than those who can provide a real experience of an EV – its human nature to reject change – and that's not restricted to vehicles – it applies to everything – just look at planning permission – a builder wants to build a small number of houses – and everyone objects saying lack of infrastructure, not enough NHS services, roads cant cope, increased traffic, lack of schools etc etc – what they really mean is they don't want new houses spoiling their view – so you have to take objections with a pinch of salt.

The lies tend to be spread about EVs by so many people that haven't a clue how their car works – many drivers cant even open their bonnet – so they are swayed by someone telling them in an authoritative way BEVs are dangerous, unreliable, will let them down, too few chargers – and energy use is expensive – the EV owners are lying to everyone – so the truth of this is EVs do indeed devalue quicker than an ICE vehicle – just like ICE did when horses were the common form of transport.

It makes no difference to me whatever type of energy propels your car, buy what you like – its your money you're choice. OK you want facts?

I bought an EV paid £53000 – my money no finance in 2021 – its value according to Autotrader averages is circa £27000 – so Its cost me £26000 in just about 4 years, £6500 per year
Charging at home at 26p per Kwhr and lets take average miles of 8000 – that's costing £520 (charge at 8p per Kwhr – special EV tariff that's £160) Average of 35mpg at £5.50 per gallon is £1257.14.
EV – no annual servicing, ICE circa £400 annually.
Insurance EVs are more expensive but my EV which is a model 3 performance cost me 2024 to 2025 £377 fully comp with Aviva – Im 68, retired, full NCB and 5000 per year – wife on policy too and protected NCB, Leicestershire location.

HV battery – 8 years or 120,000 miles warranty, current degradation – when bought 100% charge displayed 296 mile range, now 100% indicates 295 miles. I actually did a trip a month or so ago from Leicester to Warrington and back, mainly motorways and 70mph, started with 95% charge, there and back no recharge stop – 260 miles round trip – arrived back at Leicester supercharger – 3 miles from home with 14% left.

The way I see it is all forms of transport cost money, If savings were the only thing to consider we would all have a three cylinder diesel doing 60mpg plus, group 1 insurance and hopefully a very low RFL score – so £20 per year, but, we all like different things, I like performance, comfort and in particular gadgets, I really dont care the cars value has dropped £26K as im not selling it, It can accelerate to 60mph in 3 seconds, it drivers and rides superbly, My phone is my key, so just open the door and drive, it auto locks as i walk away, I can engage air con or heating remotely from my phone – and Tesla are very hard to steal. I've not had a single fault with the car and it remains pristine.

Now tell me I'm misguided in buying a fully electric car, Its all about horses for courses – BEV suits me and my lifestyle – there is no absolute wrong or right. I just wish people would stop spouting absolute shite. Go buy an EV at the stupid low prices they are now second-hand, clearly you cant loose a fortune because they are cheap, live with one for a year then come back and tell us all how your experience was. Im sure your rhetoric will have changed completely. Funny thing – all non EV owners know BEVs are pants – until they actually buy one.

  7. Here he is again, the pathetically challenged rambler, whining away about EVs, you'd think an EV had bitten his bum by the way this little man is obsessed. Clearly with no first hand experience of Evs, all he has is envy and anger that they are so[popular, and no one is listening to poor, little challenged Baz.

I've owned an EV for 8 years now, and it's been brilliant. Why anyone would prefer a stinking, leakkming, oiuled upmess of an ICE engine, with masswive clutch / gearbox, transmission, sump, oil pump, exhaust etc. is a mystery to all those who seized the opportunity years ago. Pathetic little brained losers obviously copy each others misinformation, so the net effect is of painfully ignorant lpowbrows with an issue, most likely none of them understand why, they are clearly far too obsessed for what is merely a cleaner, cheaper form of transport, obvious to anyone with a working brain.

Nothing this little simp;letont says is based on facts, it's all prejudice, facts aren't what he's about. Pathetic losers should try to have an interest in a hobby, being obsessed with what others drive is the mark of a bufoon. Of course, in line with many other pathetic losers, Barrie is hoping for a career on youtube, following on from the big earners collecting crumbs from the rich capitalists table. Unlikely he'll make any more than he does on second hand bangers.

I don't need to owrry about depreciation, my car just keeps on going, and passes the MOT without any problems, and I don't know why I pay for a service, since there's precious little to check; tyres, brakes, lights, steering. Done so fast they even give it a clean up so owners don't think they're being overcharged.

You're the liar little man, you have to make it up because everything about EVs is good, the market for second hand is healthy, while ICE languish in showrooms and then in fields with no one to buy them. But there's always a sad slomo whenever any progress is made. They used to be called luddites, but I prefer losers or dinosaurs. Pathetic, challenged no hopers lacking understanding and catering only to other lowbrows, supplying them with confirmation bias, so they don't feel so lonely in a world embracing change because most understand we have fouled up big time and destroyed the ecological balance. If only extinction could be linked with stupidity, leaving intelligent good people to clear up their mess.

  8. Lol Barrie…McDonalds customers that can't put the wrappers in the bin?…..They just throw them out the window round here!! Usually out of their VW GTD….😁😁And no they wouldn't understand that oxygen supports Burning! 😉😉

  9. If an established business advertise cars for traders / private individuals and sells its own stock too…. I can’t help wondering which vehicles will be prioritised. Any guesses? Hmmm…

  10. I have a question on charging at home. How many family homes with drive ways, have more than one car? It has to be thousands, mine has 3. My wife’s, my sons, and mine. So how many chargers can a regular home support? What happens when we all want to charge? Does one or two of us have to stay at home because we couldn’t charge? Also, how about settling the electricity cost for all the charging? Does the family simply soak it up? I never read any comments talking about this situation, on any EV related videos. 🤔

  11. You Sir are telling lies and your door did not hit me in the Backside for ICE is finished and EV's will be so cheap they have no chance. With no maintenance and fat dealers ripping you off YOU SIR ARE HISTORY.

  12. Grown men who are wetting their pants fretting about tin boxes on wheels is sad to see 😪.

    However….it IS curiously entertaining😂

I bet they were inconsolable when mummy weaned them off alphabetti spagetti 🤣😂🤣

  13. ICE manufacturers are in for a huge awakening…the Chinese invasion is starting…

VW are already closing down 3 factories producing ICE cars in china….nobody wants them…the tip of the iceberg.

    Strap-in….A Nokia moment inbound.

  14. Some real world data from my car for both sides to play with (and argue over).

    Purchase price: £28,000.
    Current insurance price: £8,000
Mileage and age: 4 years and 64,000 miles.

Fuel savings compared to my previous diesel Golf: £5,100 (I do a lot of miles, it helps with the price differential between the fuel types).

Expected life. Who knows? I run cars until they need replacing, not very 3 years. I can soak up a lot of depreciation over the life that way, plus the car saves over £1,000 a year in fuel.

Battery life? No real idea, I’ve not had an official test done. By looking at real life driving numbers it’s around 90%, so about 2-3 % drop a year.

Repairs? £650 so far. Mainly a gearbox actuator needed replacing. Nothing on the EV side of things……yet.

Wheels? Tyres need replacing about 10% more frequently than my Golf. Pads and discs are fine, no sign they need replacing yet.

Pro-EV? Yes and no. I also drive a diesel (not the Golf, that got sold). Love both, happy with both. EVs do a good job where they fit and are adequate in scenarios where ICE is superior.

  15. the more leases given UP,the LESS demand for expensive New, smart move by Auto-Trader,alas it cuts you folk out of the loop. straight from lease-owner through AutoT to second hand buyer..and all done electronicly,no need for auction hardware and no need for car-seller hardware, the younger generation are locked into this digital age. cost of living rising, ice ban incoming, folk will need a car so second-hand Will Undercut New… manufactors WILL Reduce production to meet lower demand of new cars….

  16. It’s bad news for Auto Dealers. I work at one! Plus, of late, motorcycle dealers are also feeling the pinch, and even going to the wall. One near me is now in receivership.

  17. Many EV lease deals that look good are 9 months up front so the Born would be £2400 for a base car. The so called sold cars are mainly leased cars so why can't they tell us "actual" sales and leased "sales" ? Being an engineer I have worked with Lithium batteries and ALL drop 5% in year one as the chemicals settle down. On a 300 mile range car that is 15 miles less after year one. EV is not a replacement for ICE cars because of rang and charging infrastructure. I stopped at Gloucester services South Bound on a Monday afternoon and noticed 8 Tesla chargers plus 8 grid serve ones (I think they were) and most in use. The car park had over 200 cars in it so if they were all EV's how could people charge their car ? It would take more than 8 hours at 30 minute charge times to charge all the cars to 80%.

  18. Even my lead acid starter battery can work and test fine today and drop a plate on me tomorrow. Inconvenient and no great biggie like it would be with my used EV battery dropping a cell and that's the problem for the flippers and leasers too. You have to bribe me to take that risk off your hands in future.
