AWS (Amazon Web Services) is investing over $500 million in small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) to meet its growing clean energy needs, driven by the increasing demand for cloud computing and AI services.
AWS has partnered with Dominion Energy in Virginia to explore the development of an SMR near Dominion’s North Anna nuclear power station, which will provide at least 300 megawatts of power to the region. AWS also plans to fund SMR development in Washington state with Energy Northwest.
SMRs are compact, advanced nuclear reactors that have faster construction times and a smaller footprint compared to traditional reactors. They are seen as a critical clean energy solution for powering data centers, as wind and solar sources may not be sufficient to meet rising electricity demands. AWS joins other tech giants, such as Google and Microsoft, that are turning to nuclear power to meet these needs.
This investment is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, including its Climate Pledge Fund, which is supporting the development of SMR technology. The U.S. government, through initiatives led by Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, is also backing SMR deployment with $900 million in funding.

Remember the start of Fallout 4 happens due to SMRs
You can't deliver a book on time, but you think you can run a nuclear plant? It's time for the government to shut Amazon down.
These f*ckheads that are chañging everything are wrong, nuclear has never been safe it always f*cks up, solar is useless and wind turbines need 200 tons of concrete and rebar to anchor the base into the ground and when your done using it they just leave all that in the ground. Brilliant. The elites are stupid.
This is NOT going to age well !
I disagree.
Nuclear is the way of the future.
At least 30%
Making electricity even more expensive over time. Thanks!
