Doctors for Nuclear Energy Founder Chris Keefer says nuclear has “long-term value” despite the “upfront investment” required.
The Coalition is urging nuclear energy is essential for the transition to net zero despite not yet releasing the costings for the plan.
“There’s a long-term value proposition there,” Dr Keefer told Sky News Australia.
“There’s an upfront investment that’s required, but you end up with, in Ontario’s case, nuclear being the second cheapest source of electricity after hydroelectricity.”

one year of wages taken from politicians and over paid public servants gets it financed .. one year of the abc cost ,gets the money , one year less to majority financing minorities also adds to the value needed , and so does all the government subsidized power and private companies ,,its not hard we just need to TAKE the money from those who overvalued their worth .

Long term is the word. 35 Years before you see one Watt of electricity from a nuclear power plant
I am from New Brunswick Canada and hy dro killed on of the best Atlantic salmon rivers in the world.
Laura …(a) we DO have a nuclear industry, and (b) the argument we can't have one because we don't have one is so intellectually stupid.
It is the future and should be used more often.
The jewish channel at it,s finest
Coal, coal and gas Australia's made of the stuff.
That’s one filthy moustache
Duttons nuclear thought bubble is not a raging debate, his political musings are little more than a compensatory fantasy to disguise his stupidity and violent ambitions.
He's adopting the technique of repeating a lie ,ad nauseam, in the hope it is accepted as truth. Very transparently trumpian. The Liberals have little regard for science, morality, tolerance, justice or anything else that challenges their core values.
Should spotlight Thorium based nuclear power. Significant advantages compared to light water uranium.
Blah blah blah Nuclear good blah blah blah…. Where are the numbers, Potato-head………otherwise Blah blah blah..
If you look at the population and demographics of Australia, small modular reactors could power the whole place. We wouldn't need huge expensive plants like America or Europe. Imagine turning electrical substations into small modular reactor sites? They will never allow it as the politicians and their bribery friends like to make money off useless alternatives designed to lower the standard of living leading to peoples demise. Its intentional not incompetence.
Nuclear is clean and safe. Such a shame that the US has been shutting down nuclear plants. Closing Indian Point in NY cost a thousand good paying union jobs.
What a load of baloney
Anyone apposed to nuclear energy is either a vax addict or a windmill/Solar Salesman.
Both are intellectually challenged.
Please STOP say we don't have a nuclear industry, we've had one for over 60 years.
We don't need to create one, we just need to modify the regulations. Plus we do have the experts in the industry that are Aussies, it'll just take a little time to do, also lift the ban & see how many in the private sector come forward.
Finland opened another nuclear power plant in the last few months. Their power prices went…….down.
Just take $40 Billion from the ABo industry and there's your 'upfront investment'..And, never waste another single cent on the ABo industry ever again..
