MEET OUR SPEAKERS
🍀 Md. Shafiqul Islam, a Forestry Graduate from Khulna University, Bangladesh, has extensive experience in climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and mangrove restoration projects in Bangladesh’s coastal areas. He has worked with organizations like BEDS, UNDP Bangladesh, the Forest Department, FAO, Winrock International, and BRAC. Following the 2010 earthquake, he contributed to BRAC International’s efforts in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Mr. Islam is skilled in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, project proposal development, and possesses strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, thriving in multicultural environments.
🍀 Sarah Queblatin is a regenerative design specialist with a focus on interfaith peacebuilding, biocultural heritage conservation, and environmental education. She founded Living Story Landscapes, which addresses cultural memory in climate and conflict-prone areas, and the Green Releaf Initiative in the Philippines, applying permaculture in disaster situations. As an expert in inclusive regenerative design, she serves as a juror for the LUSH Spring Prize and Unearthodox’s Voices for Regeneration, and holds advisory roles with the Global Ecovillage Network Oceania and Asia, Permaculture for Refugees, and the UNDP’s Conscious Food Systems Alliance.
🍀 Tom Deiters, co-founder of Gaia Ashram, is a permaculture and agroforestry practitioner with a deep reverence for nature and extensive organic farming experience. He has been instrumental in establishing Gaia Ashram as a sustainable living model. As the lead for regenerative agriculture and ecosystem restoration, Tom empowers participants to design communities in harmony with the natural world.
