In Senegal, many communities depend on savannas – that is, transition zones between deserts and forests – to feed their families and livestock. But climate change and industrial agriculture are slowly turning these important landscapes into deserts themselves. To ensure these vital ecosystems remain livable, we, along with our partner Hommes et Terre, are tackling the challenge of restoring one of the toughest environments imaginable 💪

The added grazing and mulch from animals will help to improve the area. The shade gives a cooler environment and more water collection. Glad people are getting proactive.
God bless you all 😊😊😊
Very nice!
Every time I think, there are so many hardworking people out there. The world is better because of you.
This amazing thank you
They're called swales
Love these kind of projects ❤
You are fabulous Ecosia❤😊
u r not supposed to plant in desert. this will destroy the other places where there is green already.
Give me a website details please, this work is important and I need to learn more about it
So glad you are using rainwater harvesting techniques. This video is a good teaching moment for others They also reduce maintenance, too. I established several shrubs that way (using a generous amount of water when they are set in the hole, for a good start).
I had previously asked about rainwater harvesting under several other videos, but my comment was missed by you guys…
I use ocean hero 🩵 on Linux and ecosia 💚 on Android both in firefox 🔥🦊
Y'all are so great

Do they thin the trees out later? They're growing so close together.

Time to implement this on South and East of Spain 😊
Boing boing
Greetings from Germany ❣️
Quais espécies de árvores estão sendo plantadas? É preciso diversificar o plantio de mudas de arvores…. plantando madeira para resolver problemas de habitação e de frutíferas para alimentação.
Holistic Planned Grazing
Earth Smiles!!!
Cheering for your efforts!!!🎉
Thank you for loving our Mother Earth.
very this method use across sahara specially recently unusual west African monsoon rare event torrential downpours recorded.
Fantastic stuff. Congratulations
Most of the degradation in this area is due to bad land management, it just climate change (especially man made).
I would love to plant thousands of trees
What do your partners want it return n what exactly are yall doing always making it seem like yall the ones saving the day bt i see the locals doing the work
Are trees supposed to be in that environment? Coming from a semi-desert country, I am sus of these Europeans thinking that an environment which is not lush and green is not natural or healthy. We love our dirt.
This is great, but seems to conflate the channels the plows make and the hand dug smiles – how do you decide what to put where?
Support ecosia guy, nor genocide google
Ecosia gives me hope for humanity
Is there a way to add like small % of clay soil to help retain water i am not a scientific expert nor I know anything
Focus less on the trees and more on the grass and your results will improve exponentially. And in order to get healthy thriving grasslands that retain moisture better so trees can grow, you need livestock in holistic planned grazing systems like how Savory institute does.
Can I work with you guys. I am a landscape architect in India and interested in such restoration work.
