Climate change has changed the sowing time of wheat || Crop Reformer

After broadcasting of fertilizer and wheat seed, rotavater is operated to incorporate them in the soil. No doubt, this practice leads to excellent germination and initial growth of wheat but more amount of water is needed for every irrigation. Wheat plants tend to incline due to very loose soil.
The same thing is repeated until the booting and grain filling stage. This may lead to huge loss due to wheat lodging. In this video, we have guided the farmers for planking should be followed after rotavater especially in case when wheat crop is planted in loam and heavy loam soils. However, there is no need of planking after rotavater in clayey soils of rice zone in Punjab.

Wheat sowing, seed selection and seed rate are the initial but most important factors that affect the overall growth and development of plants and play a decisive role in production technology of wheat. This initial mistake some times cause a big loss of yield at a later stage when wheat crop starts to lodge. A factor contributing to wheat lodging is hidden in the method of sowing. If we remove this mistake, the tendency of wheat lodging will decrease and our production will increase. A problem and its solution is given in this brief video which may help many farmers that are doing this mistake continuously. Moreover, other reasons for wheat lodging include higher quantity of fertilizers applied and weather conditions. A farmer should also be aware of weather forecast of specific areas to grow crops in an effective manner.
Wheat seed rate has been and still is a common controversy of among the farmers and agricultural researchers under unique cultural conditions throughout Punjab. We have not only justified the strength of 50 kg over 40 and 60 kg/acre but video clips of data supporting the reasoning of better yield of 50 kg have also been discussed in this video. It has been stressed that inspite of lesser germination in 40 kg seed rate, production of 50 maunds of wheat grain per acre is possible but on the expense of more inputs in case of early planted crop. 60 kg seed rate can not deliver better results in case of early planting. Its yield may sometimes be at par but quality can not match with 50 kg/acre. Intra row plant competition may be so hard that most plants remain weak and may have only a single tiller in case of 60 kg/acre. As regards the 50 kg/acre, it is the king seed rate which provides 50 maunds per acre even with lesser input of fertilizers. That is why, department of agriculture recommends this seed rate for most common conditions all over Punjab to achieve an optimum yield. Production technology of wheat revolves about this seed rate in present conditions of climate and soils in our country. The deviation from this seed rate leads to lesser production and yield and we do not get better health and growth of plants in wheat crop due to this factor.
Use of 50 kg/acre seed is a general recommendation from the department of agriculture for medium season (November) planted wheat crop in most of the normal soils of Punjab Province. In this video, we have argued about and endorsed why this recommendation is better than 30-40 or 60-70 kg/acre in most cases.
