The Chancellor is expected to raise employer National Insurance rates in Wednesday’s Budget to increase funding for public services like the NHS. Rachel Reeves plans to also lower the earnings threshold at which employers start paying the tax, with these changes projected to bring in around £20bn.
Currently, employers pay 13.8% on earnings over £175 a week. This increase is expected to be the Budget’s largest revenue source, although it will likely exclude pensions.
A government source stated, “The NHS needs more money, and this requires businesses to help.”

So rishi was right and kier lied 😮
This is a failed major system…..the leach sanatory is all over.
The experiment and rational for a London major is over….the Labour Party now needs to abolish this office in favour of a rotating chair on the London assembly. This might save some 25 million pounds a year from the taxpayer to give to the Blind and severely disabled UK citizens which are starving on the streets, whom have not received any of their legal income since the 24 th May 2022.
Stop wasting our taxpayers' money..we already have a major for the City of London, we don't need to waste more taxpayers' money on failed political leaches accused of abusing blind children and adults.
To save 10 billion, the government must
Remove 430 lords from the House of Lords and make it an elected technical house of one 6 year term.
Remove 210 MPs from the House of Commons and make it a maximum elected term of 8 years
We cannot afford to give benefits to politicians whom are non-productive and should be looking for productive jobs in the private sector.
I would honestly have 0 issue if we all paid double the tax we currently do if I saw the money going to good use but when we have road tax as high as we currently have it I’d expect our roads to not break cars. When we pay the NI we do I’d expect the sick and pensioners to be looked after. It seems like all this money just goes to third parties who hugely profit. Tax isn’t the issue it’s where it is spent
Just following the Davos plan. Starmer is a good little soldier.
Charity Starts at Home 🏠. In my case a cold one
Ah, she should bring in a special tax on public sector pension schemes, after all that would have the biggest impact. All lump sums will be taxed at the appropriate rate.
translators and multiple language signs, we dont do it on roads so why do it everywhere else. learn the language if you live her
I'd tax the businesses less based on employment. So for example the more people you employ the less tax you pay until a threshold. Thus will bring people off the welfare system and taxable for working. Obviously it would be balanced to ensure individuals benefit from working.
My Dad used to clock in and he would occasionally clock in for his mates and they would reciprocate for him. Try disciplining them and see how the unions work
59 worked all my life but I’m seriously considering going on universal credits tbh depressing anxiety caused by this government
Starmer & his inept government…GONE!
Most people are net tax takers not payers – in a way anyone calling for higher taxes on "the rich" should really be calling for less public services for themselves.
The amount of ads from loan company’s on YouTube nowadays speaks volumes
How will those too ill to work cope when their money is reduced/stopped?
Turns out that Rachel Reeves wasn't an economist at the Bank of England…..She was just a typist….
The extra money goes straight in their back pocket
Stamer is an empty headed puppet with no ideas of his own. All his plans are coming down from the W£F.
I want Herr Starmer and the Labour Reich gone and then we can save the UK .
The government needs to cut back and stop giving away to anyone and everyone! Billions to other countries.. you tell me they arnt getting secret kickbacks and ill certainly call you a liar.
I don't understand how someone who claims to want the uk to be a great place for business wants to screw over investors, by taking any gains For working people, the stock market is one of the best ways to increase wealth. I get we still have the isa thats tax free but it's limiting people's ability to dip there toe and test the water with general investments accounts. When you consider the returns you generally get from the stock market compared to having your saving in a bank savings account which gives peanuts in interest and your money is worth less at the end shows just 1 reason it's a bad idea. What they need to do is be making investing knowledge part of the national curriculum, get the kids into it early so they can guarantee to have atleast a good deposit to buy a house, which will further benefit them in the future aswell as mean more money in the economy. Instead of throwing money at the nhs it should be schools because most of the our countries problems are down to lack of usable education. And as for putting taxes on private school fees isn't helping an issue money gained will be insignificant in comparison to the cost and further damaging state school education, The goverment is a farce.
Where's Starmers wife
Taking the £2.00 bus fare aswell. Sounds trivial but not for carers who have to travel
Well somebody has to pay for all the people who dont work? For all the thousands of illegal soldiers coming over. We have to still get up at 5am and work 13hrs while missing our childrens childhood. We have to pay for them !!
When getting teabagged requires a tea bag. You know you're in England.
Sunday Humor let it slide
Mike amesbury needs locking up and sacked
Everything has been getting worse for almost three decades and we are being forced to pay more for the 'privilege'.
If you've spent all your salary on stuff and have no money left then you're a working person. But if you've saved or invested or bought property then nope you're not a working person
How about analysing how government spends the money – if we got value for money then people might be okay with it
Kier said in every debate “we have the highest tax burden since ww2” yada yada yada. Then when he’s in power increases taxes further. What a fucking disgrace
