David sir, how do you continue living in this country with your resources knowing at least half the country is irredeemably stupid?
Trump's "solution" to seemingly everything, is Drill, baby Drill.
Trump could only rise to power (and continue to be a threat as he is) because the U.S. has had increasing fundamental serious social, political, and economic problems over the last few decades (perhaps since the 70s), mainly economic (income inequality, abject greed and graft, etc.) and growing widespread corruption and what has become a corporate oligarchy. Also, the dumbing down of our citizenry hasn't helped, along with the obvious vagaries of technology and technocrats.
Even if we manage avoid a second Trump term, we're not in the clear. We have much to seriously address and reconcile before the next demagogue inevitably fills the void. I don't hear enough political pundits talking about the underlying causes of MAGA and a shift away from what is left of our democracy (anocracy), only the symptoms of it.
How immigration "trumps" climate change and healthcare as an important issue is beyond me.

If you make an island bigger it will have more beachfront. If you make it smaller it will have less beachfront. Rising sea level makes all landmasses smaller resulting in less beachfront.

I am a conservation major. Climate change is single-handedly the biggest threat that faces the human race, and the environment as a whole.

Most people on the left have decided to avoid this topic because they believe that Harris can’t get elected if she doesn’t move well to the right on this issue. She thinks that means bragging about our “energy independence”. Fine. But promoting energy independence doesn’t mean that we need to dig, dig, dig for more oil. We are perfectly capable of building our own turbines, solar panels and electric cars, rather than relying on equipment from China. If the government chooses to subsidize these industries instead of ethanol and fossil fuel, we can replace American made climate damaging energy sources with American made renewable ones. If Americans don’t like the price of groceries now, just wait until climate change makes it impossible to grow most of the crops we rely on. Why isn’t anyone talking about that?
