The Government has announced billions in new NHS funding to increase capacity by two million appointments a year. Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to allocate £1.5 billion for new surgical hubs and scanners, plus £70 million for radiotherapy machines, alongside an additional £1.8 billion for elective care since July.
While promising to tackle NHS underfunding, Ms. Reeves acknowledged that this budget alone cannot reverse “14 years of damage.” She aims to deliver 40,000 extra appointments weekly and elevate capital investment to its highest since 2010, focusing on reducing the backlog and upgrading essential equipment.

The problem with humungous borrowing for captial investment projects is that it has to be paid back. The interest on this borrowing is going to be horrific.
NHS is beyond reform, it needs to be privatised, and treatment based on private insurance; and the 220 billion in taxes it costs each and every one of us every year, needs to be given back to us in reduced income tax.
