  1. The press needs to stop exaggerating! Valencia is a province comprising three parts: to the South is Alicante, to the North, Castillon with Valencia city being the capital. However, the major flooding and damage done to properties happened in the villages and in towns surrounding the capital city to the south and to the north of the city but Valencia city, I repeat, the city has not been flooded and does not compare to the flooding of 1957. sadly people have lost their lives. Businesses have had to close, schools have closed for the day and the majority of public transport also suspended. In some cases, two days and of course this has a devastating knock on effect where tourism and commerce is concernedтАж

  2. I flew back from Seville yesterday where the rain was torrential and there was constant thunder and lightening. My flight was delayed for two hours and my luggage soaked, but not a problem compared to the loss of life and desolation in Valencia.
In Seville today my daughter tells me the rain has been horrendous again, and people advised against travel

  3. I did find food in the UK in restaurants when I was there for three weeks in 2019 to be very heavy and not very healthy. I did find the food in Spain to be lighter and healthier though we all know fried food is not healthy and lots of heavy meat , at least that is what I learned in nutrition courses I took for Acupuncture and my doctorates in Natural Health and Bioenergetic Medicine.

  4. Re pub meals, the person was talking about chains and heтАЩs no doubt right. However there are thousands of pubs in the UK which are not part of a chain and some serve extremely good food, at a price of course often. Local pubs are under threat since the pandemic so some have upped the quality of their food offering to attract custom. Some, sadly, are more like restaurants because of the challenges they face nowadays

  5. Having just moved to the Gandia area in September it was great to see the storm, but it turned into something much worse than a light show as we are all too aware of now.

Our thoughts are with those who didn't survive, still missing and have been severely affected.

    Nature at full force.

  6. Loved living in Spain but had to leave in 2016 after few years there .Did 3 months Valencia .Spain has risks every year these episodes sometimes in rural regions with no deaths and sometimes like this in bigger cities and some deaths .My condolences for the peoples of Valancia

  7. Needing the police in an emergency doesn't mean that you should lie to yourself and say they are perfect. The idea that you cant't criticize the shortcomings of law enforcement because you may need them one day is extremely stupid.

  8. My heart goes out to all those in Spain who have been affected by the terrible storms. In my area of the Orihuela Costa we escaped the worst destruction with a bad night of wind, rain and storms, but there was no flooding fortunately.

  9. count in political crimes and it should balance out or weigh heavier in Madrid. I've never witnessed such organised tourist thieft gangs as in Madrid around Plaza de Espa├▒a and Plaza de Oriente, although I assume there are such gangs in Barcelona also.

  10. I lived in Valencia and attended the University of Valencia as a Foreign Exchange Student. I often dream of returning as a senior. Would be my 4th return. I was so surprised to hear the turmoil due to the heavy rain. I also learned of Castellon de la Plana from this YouTube Channel as a potential place to return. I read where it was affected as well? Sad and such a beautiful city. I have the best memories of my life living there, returning several times. Even during Franco's regime, I enjoyed it. Just hope the recovery is swift for all of those affected.

  11. Hola stu and guests. Prayers to the people in the valencian communities. Hopefully the weather people will note high altitude cold air approaching low altitude warm air and develop a better system to forecast the intensity of a coming dana. Good to see crime overall has gone down in spain, despite a higher rate in barcelona compared to madrid. I was under the impression, spain is quite safe compared to other cities despite some pickpocketing in tourists areas.

  12. Considering the dana effects, considering the national help valencia will now need, is the catalans community reconsidering their demands for financial separation. With their mediterranean coastline producing warm air and the inability to control cold air in the higher atmosphere just maybe they ought to keep their financial ties to spain intact just for national emergencies.

  13. In a different context when written by Sting but sadly relevant today for those suffering.

On and on the rain will fall
    Like tears from a star
    like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
    How fragile we are

RIP those souls and peace to those close to them. ЁЯШФ

  14. Hola Stu, maybe you should do a separate video about this again as the death toll unfortunately keeps rising as we speak. Maybe with a charity link, if there is any, to help those in need? It's really tragic and dire out there.

  15. Interesting comment about the Police & only loved when needed. As a life long profession as a Policeman (Yes, as a female I have No problem calling myself Policeman. Just simplier that way), IтАЩve noticed a bit of difference between the USA & Spain. I never had any trouble in the USA, but while in Spain (as a tourist) heard & saw several times people disrespecting cops. Was told it was the distrust due to a holdover from FrancoтАЩs time. (?)

  16. Thanks. Problem with reporting early is that we now know the disaster is of much greater proportions than you thought then. RIP all & hopefully the full extent will be known by Thursday or Friday
