  1. Guy who sold a consultancy business saying tax me more on my income not businesses. I wonder if his staff would agree that they should pay more income tax as opposed to the company paying more tax.

  2. Democracy doesn't work anymore does it? For example, you elect a party into power who told you that they won't raise taxes then when they are elected you find out they blatantly lied to you yet you can do nothing about it for 5 years. Plus, if you protest on the street or converse on social media about it, you could get arrested and put in prison for expressing your point of view. That sounds more like a dictatorship to me. I thought we didn't like dictatorships?

  3. Everyone is scared of the budget because of the increasing media speculation about something that hasn't even happened. Even this channel gives airtime to someone complaining about a budget that literally hasn't been announced yet.

So many podcasts have carved out a new tier of media elite that position themselves above mainstream media, yet end up needing to result in the same fear mongering for clicks and views.

  4. People want change Goodhall. Trump is not the answer but we want change away from the BS the MSM peddle to suit their own narrative. People like you son who choose not to listen when we the public tell you you're not wanted anymore and we're tired of your lies. I repeat, Trump is not the answer, but neither is your brand of politics Goodhall that shows us, the public, utter contempt because you think you know better than us. Maitlis & Sopel are no better than you, they're just craftier than you son.

  5. we should never assume that the conservatives are the experts on money matters. they're clearly not. seems labour has done better than sunak, truss, johnson and osborne's time as chancellor put together.

  6. this budget absolutely verified that sunak did a terrible job both managing the economy as chancellor and as pm and his reaction to it shows it. it also shows how money can be spent well instead of constantly being spent badly.

  7. The US approach to voting is fascinating and terrifying in equal measure. It always seems to descend into some tribal, existential struggle where the fate of the country hangs in the balance. Completely different to how things are in the UK (for now at least). Our last election result was mostly driven by frustration at the Conservatives rather than a fervent belief that Labour were going to be much better.

  8. I'm no expert but if the citizens who feel abused and sh+t on over the last government don't have their lives improved more people with put their faith in N. Farage. Not knowing that they are being missed and used by the self-titled wolves in sheep's clothing. Also, trickle-down economics have proven ”Dont Work”

  9. People seem to accept that the Tories tanked the economy and that Labour must fix it, but unwilling to accept that there will be pain, a lot of pain, whichever way Labour go. Seems unrealistic to me.

Doesn't help that Labour seem so gormless. I want them to succeed, I really do, but they can't seem to say or do anything that gives me comfort that they know what they are doing.

In a way though, they are operating in the scorded earth environment the Tories left behind: cannot talk about Brexit, cannot revive HS2, and a repeat of Truss-a-nomics hanging over their heads.

  10. Well the Budget I listen to was much better than I thought it might be. A lot was covered. I hope we will see some nice normal coming and no more BS from the other guys…

  11. I've been telling people for weeks, ignore the right wing press scarefest and actually wait for the Budget. Now it's happened those same people are saying they don't know why they were worried, why they believed the right wing press who control the media discussion. If 80% of the media are talking about doom and gloom then shows such as this then repeat and discuss that fear. I've stood my ground and ignored everything until todays budget and i'm not worried and I'll actually be getting some of my pension back thanks to Labour after the Tories stole billions from the mineworkers pension, promised to abide by an inquiry and then went back on that promise as Tories do. Thanks for a big chunk of my pension back 👍

  12. Increase in employer's NI will hit public services hard. Most especially the NHS which is the largest employer in the UK. Any boost to the government funding of public services is likely to be hoovered up by the employer's NI increase

  13. The reason "the country is fearful" is because of the media. They have whipped people up into a state of panic. The majority of the mainstream UK media are biased scumbags who want the government to fail.

  14. Sorry but i dont think the average person cares about net zero as much as the entrepreneur.

Comes across as really tone deaf, the majority of working people have other issues to worry about.
