The Challenge of Decarbonization: The European Dairy Sector, Committed to the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change
How can we achieve a sustainable dairy sector? What is the roadmap to minimize environmental impact? Is the public fully aware of all the positive effects of livestock activities? Are the new regulations on animal transport sustainable?
In this forum, organized by the Dairy Interprofessional (InLac) and co-financed by the European Union, economic and social stakeholders and leading experts will shed light on these and other topics, presenting challenges, uncertainties, and also opportunities.
The inaugural panel will feature Nuria M. Arribas, Managing Director of InLac; Carlos Martín Óvilo, Head of the Animal Productions Unit at the Directorate-General for Agriculture of the European Commission; and Tomás García Azcárate, agricultural economist, EU policy expert, and member of the Dairy Sustainability Committee of the “Count on European Dairy Products” campaign. Other speakers at the forum and subsequent roundtable include Paula de Vera, Senior Policy Advisor at COPA-Cogeca; Santiago Campos (Asaja-Brussels); and Jaume Bernis, head of livestock sectors at COAG and advisor to Group III of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).
The “Count on European Dairy Products” campaign is actively promoting the sustainability of the dairy sector while communicating the nutritional value and health benefits of dairy foods (3 servings a day).
