
The United Nations Environment Program has announced its annual Emissions Gap report. It concludes if governments around the world do not set more ambitious targets for lowering carbon emissions, the global temperature could increase more than three degrees Celsius. That’s significantly higher than the 2.7 degrees projected in last year’s report. UN officials and climate experts call for immediate action to head off potentially devastating climate consequences.
