Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham has questioned where the money is coming from in regard to the Albanese government promising to reduce student debt by 20 per cent.
“The initial reaction is where’s the money coming from when Anthony Albanese was elected … he inherited an improving budget position that’s enabled a couple of budget surpluses we’ve seen,” Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia.
“The actions of this government, the big spending decisions of this government have created a worsening budget decision.”

Government don't make money this is spending tax payers tax's. You need to address the cost of the university degree's. You must also address why not all using Hex fees to get a University degree are then not using that degree in the workforce. You must address the underlying issues not divide and give a segment of society a handout whilst those that knew they could not afford university and did a trade or went into workforce and are paying the tax's that Labor want to splash taxpayers funds on what they should of know had hex fee repayments.

HECS should be scrapped altogether. The banks should have student loans available with a set time to have the loan paid off. It's ridiculous that there's a never-ending time limit to pay back tax payers. You want to go to university then you pay for it by getting a bank loan and get a part time job!

This presenter needs to stop buttung in and talking over his guest when he doesn't like what he is hearing in the guest's answers. Such bad manners needs to be stopped. The problem with student debt is useless degrees. We constantly bring in immigrants with degrees because of a skills shortage and can’t get enough of our own. If your degree is in the migration skills shortage list then after completing your degree and working for two years in your field your debt should be cancelled. This will incentive students to study degrees on the skills shortage list.
Government cannot give to others what it hasn't first taken from someone else!!
