  1. Would like them to have gone further – seems like a missed opportunity not to reverse the 5p cut to petrol duty, since fuel prices have dropped and retailers haven’t passed it on anyway – and used this to reduce or remove VAT on public charging. Sensible to keep a differential on VED for BEVs and have a bigger step between BEVs and PHEVs in terms of company car tax, but not much in there for private buyers.

  2. How many of the delays in connecting to new charging sites are down to bureaucracy and how much is down to the need for the local infrastructure to be upgraded before connections take place? Legislating for the fast tracking of connections to the grid should address the former but is unlikely to address the latter as there are significant costs involved in upgrading the infrastructure.

The LEVI Fund for Local Government EV installations has been around for a while now, so these are now going into the next stages following the pilot.

Isn't the 'Luxury Car Tax' payable for the first five years and not the life of the car as suggested.

  3. Good summary Dave. I can see a surge in used EV values coming up. I wouldn´t sell mine however, best car I ever had and I charge at home for peanuts, saving me a fortune in diesel costs.
