Author Ramchandra Guha has profiled 10 early Indian advocates of the environment, including poet Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi’s disciple Madeleine Slade, former PM Jawaharlal Nehru’s advisor Verrier Elwin, former minister KM Munshi, and economist JC Kumarappa. His work also sheds light on how India should respond to contemporary environmental challenges.
In this conversation with Hridayesh Joshi, Guha talks about his book, the future of environmentalism in India, the consequences of climate change, and why the Char Dham Highway is a “disaster”.

Nobody is caring about environmental problems in India. People are busy with other communal stuff
Eagerly waiting for it
I always hear the name of sir Ramchandra Guha ❤❤

I have always felt that heavy construction in the seismically sensitive Himalayan zone is playing with fire.
Some builders and contractors are getting rich, in collusion with the bureaucrats and politicians at the cost of lives of poor unsuspecting residents of this area.
Sadly environmental impact assessment is on the Blackburner.
राम चन्द्र गुहा प्रतिष्ठित व हर विषय पर गहरी सोच रखने वाले।🙏🙏🙏
