The energy business in the UK (just like other Thatcher-derived business markets like water) is completely corrupt and is designed to make the company owners and shareholders rich, at the expense of all energy users, and at the expense of the UK economy. But British people are so stupid, they don't bother to learn how much they're being ripped off, and so they don't do anything to stop it. They get what they deserve.

What are you on about? The entire EU uses day-ahead markets to set electricity prices for the DSOs. At all times everywhere in EU the price for electricity is based on the most expensive electricity production (with regional differences caused by transmission limitations).
As i'm not from the UK, i do not know the specifics of why the electricity prices are so high. The marginal cost pricing does however not in itself cause high electricity prices. It just highlights issues within the electrical grid, and gives economic incentive to get them fixed.
The day-ahead markets and margin cost pricing is in my opinion one of very few neoliberal ideas that actually work in practice.

Renewables are not cheaper. They are far far more expensive to set up and run
You use marginal cost bidding so that power plants are forced to bid as low as possible when delivering electricity. Otherwise, you might not become part of the merit order and have a powerplant sitting around doing nothing but accumlating costs.
Everyone in the UK exhaled through their noses the minute you said "1989". We all know whose fault this is.
Or if a group of people got together and started their own energy company, the prices will just be reasonable. I didn’t think of that but it’s going to cost a couple of million for all the registration.

Natural Gas is one of the Cheapest here because its a Byproduct from Oil Drilling which the US does a lot of because of the very high Grade Texas Crude which Sells for a lot in other countries

This is actually good as it shows relevant information with good shifts in camera hots that make sence there are jokes and you use nice tone of voice to show where the sad bits are and its summerise the effects and problems brilliantly
At the end of the day, whatever generating product or system is used, the British Public are going to be ripped off because we always have been. We are so apathetic, so manipulable and trusting that the greedy energy providers, along with the cooperation of lying governments are always going to charge us exorbitant prices to heat and run our homes. Thousands of Pensioners will die this Winter from fuel poverty related conditions, and as citizens and taxpayers of this glorious country of ours, we will have to cut back and keep cutting back and live in miserably cold homes. When is this going to stop? And why are no leading politicians, celebrities, commentators shouting from the rooftops about this scandalous situation? All we hear is soft ‘bleating’ from pensioners organisations, feeble articles in Newspapers that have no clout and the odd politician trying to be heard (otherwise known as p..ing against the wind)! Utter disgrace!
Please talk about natural gas companies and how they fund the "green" agenda to keep their pokets lined.

My electricity bill per month is up to £430 so I bought a diesel generator and hooked it up to the mains. I now pay only £20-£40 a month. They tried to have me remove it but there's no law against it.

It’s criminal that these companies are allowed to charge us these prices and declare millions if not billions of ££ in profit while relying more and more on cheaper and renewable sources of energy.
