
Sustainability in Agriculture: The Science and Evidence conference took place on Tuesday, 5th November at the Teagasc Research Centre at Ashtown, Dublin. At the conference the science and evidence behind the sustainability credentials of agriculture, specifically focused on livestock systems, were put forward.
Session Four of the conference was a panel discussion which chaired by Helen Carroll and focused on reflections & how we address the challenges. Helen was joined by:
– Dr. Cara Augustenborg, Assistant Professor of Environmental Policy & member of CCAC
– Dr. Stan Lalor, Director of Knowledge Transfer, Teagasc
– Badi Besbes, Senior Animal Production Officer, FAO
– Thomas Duffy, former MACRA President & farmer
– Elaine O’Connor, Head of Sustainability at Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland
The conference concluded with a closing address by Dr. Karen Daly, Teagasc.
