As world leaders gather in Azerbaijan for COP29, the climate crisis continues to escalate, with fossil fuels pushing 2024 temperatures over 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Scientists warn we’re currently on course for an unprecedented 3°C rise if emissions aren’t curbed quickly. While delegates in Baku aim to finance poorer countries’ transitions to cleaner energy, doubts remain over enforceability.
Can COP29 bring real action, or are we headed for catastrophic climate impacts?

The climate crisis has nothing to do with mankind's actions. We are on a living planet, and hot and cold are normal. It wasn't mankind who made the Petrified Forest in Arizona or the glaciers that carved out the Great Lakes. But thanks to science, we know that hot and cold have often come and gone.
