In the first part of our special report, we explored the causes of Kuala Lumpur’s flooding – from the intensifying effects of climate change, overwhelmed drainage systems and unchecked urban sprawl.
In this episode, we ask the tough question: Can Kuala Lumpur truly tackle this crisis or is it on an irreversible path to sink beneath the weight of its own rapid growth?

When MONEY WHICH WAS MEANT TO BE USED FOR PROJECTS FOR RAKYAT'S BETTERMENT IS NOT USED FOR THE SAID PURPOSES AND 'ALLLLOOOWED' TO BE 'POCKETED' INSTEAD – WE ARE NOW FORCED TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCES – sadly THE RAKYAT is victimised again and again! It's really frustrating to see how dangerously we the rakyat is forced to live today simply because things have been allowed to swell to this extent!
Arent we already spend so many tax payer money to build the Smart tunnel just for this reason? So is the smart tunnel not working anymore?
The selling of retention ponds even against the advice of the Department of Irrigation/Drainage…
I think the sale of retention ponds should be banned,
Careless urban planners should be stop as they don't include how the water passes through soil (via nature like permeable pavements),
Buffer zones along rivers,
Expand retention ponds, etc
As @youhan91asked, is the SMART TUNNEL no longer working ? We should be told 🤣🤣🤣
Due to too many influx of walaun Kelantan into KL, there's many bad disastrous occurred within Klang Valley and Selangor states
Solutions : Close down Indah Water Konsortium IWK immediately due to this agency only makan gaji buta and waste of tax payers bills
This is a self made problem by the gov..unbalance development not enough water catchment area to absorb the water has led to where we are now …
The greed, at the cost of their own buyers eventually.
Town planning is very important. So are building. ratio of carpark to unit/population ratio went wrong, how many cars you see parked around a condo, residential units?
Rain water, waste water, it is not about fulfilling government rules. The rules are there to ensure comfort, manageability and sustainability. Retention pond is to contain excess rain water when there are heavy downpours. Should not be disturbed.
To develop more and more, the only way is to buy and tear down old buildings, and build higher and bigger units with sufficient upgraded facilities to support larger communities.
Not only KL the whole state and districts are mostly affected when politicians push their weights on projects that they are instrested without considering the environment infrastructure and drainage planning, the funny part is water pump gone missing in Watergate house causing flooding in housing areas
Build more sponge city
Tengku Adnan, any explanation?
