Even a month and a half later it is still devastating to see the damage. And FEMA already gone. So glad that the government has a chance to get straightened out now. These people need real help.

Please help however you can and also keep watching the many YouTube producers of these historic videos. It's important to keep in touch with the people of this devastated area.

I REALLY want to help but I have so many hurtles in my way that prevent me from helping. ЁЯЩБ I suspect it will take 2 years at least before everything is rebuilt.
I see many owners assume climate change didnt do Helene and continue live or build to close to waterways – or is the inshurances/gov money that are "wasted" if the helene weather becomes annual

Everytime I see how much damage was done in this area.As a lifelong resident of the area it is still hard to wrap my head around all of it.
We were blessed . Our Church suffered a huge sink hole in our parking lot. State and county said it was too far from Highway 70 to get help from them . Still we are a distribution center for those who need supplies. Our Church has an Outreach where we give away what ever the community donates. We're here for the long haul . He will help us . Have had so many people donating. We say….TO GOD BE THE GLORY. We are just hands and feet . God can use a small Church as well as a large one . Praying for all who have give in all counties and states that have been devastated. Blessings.

By letting engine know these homes are vacant and a lot of absentee owners you are inviting looters to come in and or people with not such great intentions. It breaks .y heart to see all that. It was a very beautiful place the last time I was there. It will be again but it won't ever be the same unfortunately
The vast majority of income in this area came from Tourism. Without their income from tourism the residents have nothing without income. It will take many years of rebuilding to restore this area enough make this area attractive enough to get tourists to return. Yet in reality the damages we see along the river banks is actually minor and insignificant compared to the damage created up in the mountains where countless millions of tons of soil, rocks and trees were carved out of the mountainsides in enormous mud slides that left major gashes in the mountain sides that are now barren of all vegetation and those wounds in the mountains will take many decades to heel until enough vegetation regrows to stabilize the soil in the mountains. Until then the mountains can continue to produce mudslides with each heavy rainfall.

They said they were going to do it in the 1940тАЩs, made it law in the 1970тАЩs and today they use it for thisтАж. land grabs. ItтАЩs happening all over the world and they will tell you itтАЩs "climate change" because they want to tax you on your breathing.
Media says death toll is 250 and 80 missing. Actual numbers are well over 10,000 according to locals.
Contractors not in much of a hurry. There should be bigger and stronger machinery pushing and moving debris.

Folks, there is too much disaster tourism going on. Please stay out of the Chimney Rock / Bat Cave area unless you live there or are working there. You can go to Lake Lure (which is separate from Chimney Rock). Your extra vehicle traffic wears down the temporary roads and clogs them while workers try to clean, repair, and rebuild the area.
Decades to recover.
