Following extended talks at the COP29 climate summit that concluded over the past weekend, developed nations pledged to increase climate funding for developing countries to at least US$300 billion annually by 2035. The deal, however, has been criticised by its intended recipients as woefully inadequate. Paul Bledsoe, a former White House climate advisor, shares his thoughts on the agreement with CNA’s Asia First. The professorial lecturer at the American University’s Center for Environmental Policy also points out what countries should do to tackle the climate crisis.

How to? The world is uncoordinated and riddled by conflicts, wars, inflation, recession, and disease, and what have you. What's worse are people still insisting on the wild goose chase.
The rest of the world is urgently cutting carbon emission,
– China 🇨🇳 determines to accelerate its emission until 2030.
Seems like America wants to drill for more oil and gas, potentially leaving the Paris agreements again. The critiques on Chinas emissions are fair but he neglects to criticize the fact that developed countries are using more Methane (natural gas) than they ever have and are looking to drill for more to replace those from Russia.
Climate scam sucking my money and my freedoms!
Hello, thank you for preventing effect of global warming, Simultaneous production of electricity and chemical materials, fertilizers, and purified water is achieved using the enormous seawater resource, applying the real gas laws and magnetic properties of particles (paramagnetic and diamagnetic), along with their electrochemical characteristics. The design involves using seawater particles with a plasma jet fuel machine (patent pending which operates under compressed air). The results show over 80% efficiency with minimal energy losses in sealed and insulated water pools. Energy consumption for water purification and electricity production is reduced by more than 50%, resulting in lower prices and making this technology competitive with other power plants. It is also completely free from pollution. The system includes specific proportions of gases, including oxygen and nitrogen, and fuel particles dissolved in water such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, and hydrogen, which can produce chemical fertilizers and ceramic base materials in coastal areas. Water is drawn from the shore during the summer to prevent disasters like forest fires and summer storms, which are exacerbated by the seasonal temperature changes and dry conditions, reducing potential financial and human losses due to fires and storms along coastal forests and fields. the machine produces electricity and water and fertilizer for 150000 people.
AUS will decrease thousands of jobs…..
For climate goal , China continuously reduce coal power plant output. Thus reduce coal import from AUS.
The IEA says China has hit peak oil – Oil markets face enormous glut.
International Energy Agency :
from now to 2030, China's renewable energy installed capacity is expected to account for nearly 60% of the world's total installed capacity.
By 2030, China will have more than half of the world's renewable energy , and China’s solar energy output is equal to the entire nation’s consumption in the U$.
To improve the air quality , China has planted over 66 billion trees as part of its Great Green Wall project, which is the world's largest afforestation project:
The Great Green Wall.
But …
🤣 2022-7-20 BBC: China is destroying the desert environment by planting trees in the desert .
😂 I am too s__ to understand BBC logic.
Also known as the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Programme, this project began in 1978 and is expected to be completed in 2050. The project's goals include:
Slowing desertification in northern China
Increasing forest cover from 5% to 15%
Stabilizing water resources
Absorbing carbon dioxide
Providing local people with resources like timber and fruit .
We also need to cut fuel subsidies, which is not just a hidden cost for many government budgets, but a disincentive to switch over to green energy alternatives.
He is right about the rapid cost reduction in of green energy, esp from China. But protectionistic policies from developed nations are hindering the process. Rather than outright tariffs, the US can maybe set a quota or something to have at least some form of implementation while waiting for her own industries to catch up?
I disagree that Donald Trump's election is a disappointment. Sure he might pull back some of the EV incentives. But he is not a war person. The US is spending too much on fighting wars and we need someone to stop them and free up the cash for more proper use.
In reality now we need to prevent planet destruction due to WWIII so please go ask Zelensky to stop all his nonsense by provoking Putin
Well done India. Respect 👍
Maga Trump dont even care about climate. These desk warrior are laughable.
CNA should interview representatives from global south such as India and China. Why US? To allow them to giver more excuses?
If it was 10 Trillion euros, I dont think you could do anything now
How about India’s? When the develop nation pollutes deadly amount and now they are develop nations. They should be responsible more.
Climate Change, Green Deals are in my opinion, A New Business to strike rich for government and big green corporates. Why do we allow increase in air traffic?? This is EU agenda.
How about not spending billions on space missions
Basically, nothing will be done. We & the future generations will suffer the consequences
-22 Ulan Bator
How about stop the wars .stop doing space missions.
