This wasn't a natural disaster this was intentionally started.

Governor Gavin Newsom played a pivotal role in the state’s response to the pandemic, issuing a stay-at-home order on March 19, 2020, to mitigate the virus's spread. This decision resulted in a drastic contraction of economic activity. Subsequent measures included indoor dining bans and restrictions on non-essential businesses during surges in COVID-19 cases, which were enforced statewide. Newsom was observed attending a French Laundry party with more households than California was advising during the "pandemic," and was not wearing a mask as other California residents were strongly advised to be doing.
Newsom's policies have drawn criticism for their economic impact, leading to grassroots movements advocating for his recall amid ongoing hardships faced by vast numbers of small business owners.
While some industries showed resilience and anticipated recovery, the long-term effects of these closures have and may continue to harm California's economic landscape significantly.
