  1. I know AccuWeather in State College PA used to be a huge Trump donor, and they wanted to step in to provide the weather for a fee. Trump tried and failed to get Barry Myers confirmed to head NOAA, so now he's just going to trash it. Does Elon have a weather app?

  2. The DOGE tech bros have no idea what many of these institutions do or how critical they are. They don’t care either. Proof? The many re-hires after massive firings , and the total disregard for the danger we as citizens would face if entities like NOAA and FEMA, are crippled. Only a misinformed, misled population can vote for an openly anti science party whose only goal is to give more power to the ones who are already powerful , eliminate any form of accountability for the rich and well connected , and turning our country into a religious fundamentalist plutocracy.

  3. I live in a red state and let me tell you, I think the ignorant around here will only learn from very difficult lessons of what a bad economy is actually like.

  4. This is the granular on why he says NOAA would not have gas to put in the vehicle to drive to carry out their work is because when they cut the National Park Service and NOAA as well, they removed the Visa cards for those type expenses, (also toilet paper, printer ink, many basic office supply). These rural offices will become non functional in many ways unless the workers who remain are willing to pay for those things out of their own pocket hoping to be reimbursed. They know it is likely they will not be reimbursed and if they are it will take a very long time. No mechanism is in place to do so and it will cost the taxpayer much more because that will be very expensive and time consuming to create.

  5. Project 2025 called for gutting NOA. Obviously, cuts are about squelching climate research – this is about protecting fossil fuel industry profits. If agriculture, people’s lives, on & on & on are negatively impacted the 5 billion $ donation trump requested of polluters is all that matters.

  6. So does Trump want to privatize everything, in true capitalist form?

He says he wants to run America as a business.

Competition is a good thing. We’re told it’s the purest way, to get the best results. People do much better, if there’s always a target on their back, right?

Those who rise to the occasion, (by any means necessary) get the best rewards.

It could never become corrupt like government.

Just relax. Don’t worry your pretty little head about it. Daddy T is gonna make it all right.

He just gave you a golden business opportunity. Freed you from the government’s constraints.

America is for sale, and open for business. And it’s going to cost all of us… a lot.
    🙄

  7. So when is SCOTUS going to weigh in on the foreign aid case?: "Foreign Aid: Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts temporarily halted a ruling by lower court Judge Amir Ali that required the Trump administration to disburse foreign aid funding for already-completed work, hours before Ali’s midnight Wednesday deadline to release the funds. Roberts’ ruling—which puts Ali’s order on hold until the Supreme Court can review the issue—is temporary and doesn’t comment on the merits of the case. . ."

Are they going to wait five more days, five more weeks, five more months? And of course, in the meantime, Musk is going to continue his purge of all Federal agencies.

So, if I understand this right, Trump can snap his fingers and get a response from SCOTUS in one day, while the American people and workers have to wait it out?

  8. In terms of the post office the Republicans voted a few years back that the pension plans of future staff needed to be pre-funded like 3o years into the future. By doing this they put an unnecessary burden of cost on them to make them seem like they were going insolvent and could not compete with fed ex or ups and there for should be privatized . This is the old playbook for every government program out there that serves the people of our country. It’s already funded by our federal taxpayers. I’m sure non of us will pay less federal taxes after they strip away all the agencies that are already funded by these taxes . Instead we’ll just bear additional cost for services we were used to getting through the payment of the federal taxes we were already paying. It’s not about efficiency! It’s about all of us paying more for everything! It’s a grift on all essential services or human needs period.OMG wake up people!

  9. The owners of AccuWeather have been lobbying to privatize the weather service for decades (but still have the government pay for and provide the data they and everyone get for free). They almost got there in Trump 1 when Trump announced Myers as the head of NOAA (which he ultimately declined due to health). NWS has the highest favorability of pretty much all federal agencies and has only costing a fraction of what other agencies have. It's critical to have a solitary, unified voice for weather advisories and warnings.

  10. I remember the church we grew up in during the mid-eighties telling my parents and the congregation that voting for George Bush was their responsibility as a Christian since Bill Clinton was Pro-Choice. I thought as a Christian, I was supposed to vote Republican because that was the party of Christian morals and belief. Boy was I wrong! Thankfully I realized this before voting age

  11. They are attacking the American people from every angle. No health alerts, no weather alerts, no help in national disasters, no healthcare, no education, on and on. Thanks To Trump, Musk and the Republicans.

  12. Seems everyone in the Federal government is getting fired instead of the most wasteful and inefficient employee, the felon in the White House.
He's golfing again and wasting our tax dollars.

  13. Two of my local meteorologists sounded the alarm today. Weather balloons are being eliminated. Not all but a lot. This will have a significant impact on forecasting severe weather. This should mesh well with the FEMA cuts. 😒

  14. We all rely on the NWS, all of us!!!! They were already understaffed. Probationary also means you are in a new position, like a promotion, not just a new employee.

  15. There is no way to tell how many lives have been saved by the early warning by NOAA! When hurricane season starts, Florida is a prime target, maybe the first one of the year makes landfall at Mar A Lago! Karma is a b****!
