Friends few months ago I made two videos one on the “Save Ladakh from Climate Disaster and Second ” The Climate Disaster That Shook the World” Links are given at the end of the description. During the making of these videos I promised that soon I will come up recent global threat perceptions that world is facing today.
There is growing concern that we heading towards climate emergency. And one of the major culprits is the uninterrupted contribution of the GHG particularly the fossil fuel burn carbon. Carbon dioxide (CO2) makes up about 75% of greenhouse gas emissions, hence a major contributor towards the rise in global temperature.
In 2015, Global community from 196 countries gather at Paris under the banner of “Conference of Parties” (COP) also known as COP-15 or Paris Agreement. In which it was decided to hold the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels” (temperature averaged between 1850 and 1900) and pursue efforts “to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C.
In this video we have briefly discuss about the history of carbon dioxide measurements, concern and the impact on the global ecosystem with emphasis on the Hindu Kush Himalaya.
