Renowned hydrologist Günter Blöschl wins the 2025 Stockholm Water Prize, the “Nobel Prize of Water”, for his research on climate-induced flood risks. His 500-year flood database reveals that the last two decades have been the most flood-prone in history.
His hydrological models and sociohydrology approach are shaping global flood policies and climate adaptation strategies. The award will be presented by King Carl XVI Gustaf at World Water Week 2025.
