There is a burning river on the border between the USA and Canada!
Sounds fake? It’s the Cuyahoga River, which in the 20th century… caught fire more than 10 times!
Why?
The river was so polluted by factories that a layer of oil and chemicals floated on its surface.
In 1969, a spark from a train ignited the water and the entire river caught fire!
The fire on the water looked like a scene from the apocalypse – and it became a breakthrough.
It was after this event that the USA created the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and the topic of protecting nature entered politics seriously.
