A mysterious patch in the Pacific Ocean is defying all climate models – it is inexplicably cooling while the rest of the world is warming. Stretching off the west coast of Ecuador, this “cold tongue” challenges what we know about fundamental ocean and atmospheric currents, and has big implications for weather systems throughout the world. Can scientists crack the mystery of the Pacific Cold Tongue? Stay tuned to find out.

Great show and channel. Very sad to see the damage we continue to cause to our planet. I feel the future will have huge climate impacts that we could have avoided.

I'm writing down my prediction at the 03:00 mark to see if my guess is close to the actual system.
Its like hurricanes right, a system trying to disipate the energy differential. In this case it appears to me like a positive feed back loop. The greater the upwelling the colder the air, the greater the cold air the greater high pressure, the greater the high pressure the more intense the winds push to the low pessure. the higher the winds the more upwelling and the cycle continues. The end result is going to evenually cause warming of the ocean depths.
How do we conclude that we are facing global warming when we can’t even fully understand our weather
Noit sure what I just watched about the climate, but I do know there are a few graduates students in America who are about to be deported (or renditioned to El Salvador).

The cold tongue is associated with upwelling of deep ocean water.
So… why didn’t the video talk about this? When that deep water rises, what water flows in and replaces it? And this replacing water is itself replaced by water from where? In other words, what’s the ocean circulation system there? Isn’t that the most likely way to tackle the problem? Changes in the existing ocean circulation rather than some entirely new phenomenon that brings additional cooling to the same region?
I wonder how many other things the climate models, predictions and scientists are wrong.

Scientists are so silly. The politicians aren’t worried why should me be worried.
Confusing, saying that colder and therefore more dense air leads to higher pressure.
In Meteo we say, warmer air rises up, and therefore produces a high pressure area, and thats how storms are formed
In physiscs, one can say that a colomn of cold air produces more pressure on the ground, beacuase of the greater density of cold air vs warm air. But that has nothing todo with what we call areas of high and or low pressure in our atmosphere, and or the origins of weather.
Why is the west coast the eastern side of the pacific, and Asian which is by most considered east.

This was a fascinating video but please review the captions! The standard English captions are poor to the point of being almost unusable. I thought I had accidentally put on the auto-generated ones, but that was not the case.
"climate models" are lies. they cant even get the weather right a week ahead (not that anyone could guess what the weather will decide to do). They CAN NOT know what will happen in a year/10 years/100 years.

Un peu le phénomène de l' AMOC Gulf stream mais étant aérien, il subit moins d' interférences hydrogéologiques et de ce fait se trouve très orienté Est – Ouest

Everyone was worried about global warming because of heating. When we go in to the next Ice age and all of Europe 8s frozen Imma laugh.. Cus I'm American. Google the projections for global warming causing a ice age resurgence. That's the truth of global warming.

Could the strengthening Walker circulation be partially caused by increased melt in Antartica providing a larger reservoir of cold deep ocean water?
