A devastating fire broke out in a densely populated residential neighborhood in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
The blaze started in a mid-rise apartment building, allegedly due to an electrical short circuit in one of the lower units.
Flames rapidly spread through the structure, fueled by wooden interiors and outdated insulation materials.
Residents were caught off guard, many of them still asleep when the fire alarms failed to activate properly.
Emergency services responded quickly, with over twenty fire engines and more than one hundred personnel on site.

Initial assessments suggest a chemical reaction during waste handling caused the ignition.

Meanwhile, in Harbin, a fire broke out in a popular wholesale market, resulting in significant property loss.

Firefighters were able to control the fire after six hours of intense effort.
One firefighter sustained injuries during a roof collapse and is currently recovering.
Harbin authorities have since ordered inspections of all major markets in the city.
