More than 3,000 people have been hospitalised with breathing problems after a massive sandstorm swept through parts of Iraq.
Videos posted online show a thick orange dusty haze blanketing central and southern regions, with the severe conditions forcing authorities to shut down airports in Najaf and Basra.
Visibility in Basra has reportedly been reduced to less than one kilometre, with conditions expected to ease slightly by Wednesday.
Sandstorms are common in Iraq, but officials have raised alarm over their frequency in recent years, which they say is due to record-low rainfall and climate change.
