Michael Shellenberger is right – the most energy-dense forms of generation are the best by far, simply from a thermodynamic perspective. Solar power is among the lowest energy-density of all, wind is not much better, and both are economically terrible. Nuclear is by far the best, even though it has been politically-hamstrung for decades.
