🌊 The Aral Sea: From Ocean to Dust | Climate Change
Once the 4th largest lake in the world, the Aral Sea is now a dry, desolate wasteland. In just a few decades, human mismanagement and climate change drained this massive body of water — and the satellite imagery is shocking.
📍 Location: Central Asia (Kazakhstan & Uzbekistan)
🕰️ Then: A thriving inland sea (1960s)
💀 Now: Over 90% gone, leaving behind toxic dust and ecological collapse
This is one of the worst environmental disasters in modern history, and it didn’t happen naturally — it happened because of us.

Except the deterioration of tbe Aral sea has nothing to do with climate change. It's water sources were diverted for irrigation (mainly cotton farming). The result is a high salinity puddle.
While it is tragic it isn't due to climate change. Habitat destruction or poor water management isn't climate change. Although, it can nost certainly lead to ecological changes. Think fish populations, vegetation loss and dust storms from the dried lake.
