
In Timor-Leste, the Australian government is investing in equitable access to safe and clean water. Through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership’s Disaster READY partners are providing training and resources, with a focus on women and girls and people with disability, to strengthen climate resilience across the country.
In the face of a changing climate, prolonged drought is a serious threat to the health and livelihoods of communities across Timor-Leste. As droughts continue to affect the availability of water, harmful gender expectation around water collection responsibilities is increasing gender inequality.
These stories are from five women who have supported their communities to reduce the disaster and climate risks associated with drought through water conservation initiatives, supported by the Disaster READY.
