REGENT OF MANGGARAI
OFFICIAL ADVISORY
Number: 300.2.3/103/V/2025
In response to the rising sea level phenomenon on Mules Island, Nuca Molas Village, Satar Mese Barat Sub-district, and the southern coastal areas of Manggarai Regency on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the Manggarai Regency Government conveys the following information and advisory:
1. The phenomenon is classified as a Coastal Flood (ROB), which refers to the event of seawater rising and flooding the coastal land areas due to high tides, causing the surrounding regions to be inundated by seawater.
2. According to the Maritime Meteorological Station in Tenau-Kupang, the event was caused by the new moon phase and the closest distance between the moon and the earth (Perigee) on May 27, 2025, which has the potential to significantly increase sea level heights. Based on monitoring data of tidal predictions, wind speeds, wave heights, and potential rainfall with moderate to heavy intensity, these conditions may affect the coastal dynamics in East Nusa Tenggara, including the risk of coastal flooding (ROB).
3. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay alert, remain calm, and not be easily swayed by hoaxes or false information. Ensure that all information comes only from official and trusted sources, namely the Manggarai Regency Government and the Frans Sales Lega Ruteng Meteorological Station.
4. The Manggarai Regency Government continues to coordinate with the Frans Sales Lega Ruteng Meteorological Station and the Maritime Meteorological Station in Tenau-Kupang regarding the latest developments.
5. The Sub-district Heads of Satarmese and Satarmese Barat are instructed to disseminate this information to all communities through the Village Heads in their respective areas.
