In his TEDx South Congress talk, Josh Busby, PhD, explores the critical connections between climate change and national security. He argues that the impacts of a changing climate are not just environmental issues, but significant threats that can destabilize nations, and overwhelm disaster response capabilities both domestically and internationally.
Busby emphasizes the need for proactive and comprehensive strategies that integrate climate action into national security planning, highlighting the importance of building resilience and prevention-focused strategies.
Joshua Busby is a Professor of Public Affairs and a Distinguished Scholar at the Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law. From 2021-2023, he served as a Senior Advisor for Climate at the U.S. Department of Defense. Busby is the author of numerous studies on climate change, national security, and energy policy that have been published by peer-reviewed academic outlets and various think tanks. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

1) Bush Jr closed rural weather reporting stations, resulting in the 'hockey stick' of now only urban heat zones. 2) The Hottest Day on Record! report disclaimer: "synthetic climate model simulation' (Earth has been COOLING after 2017.). 3) Hurricanes were measured as they came ashore at +30 feet above ground with anemometers. Now they are measured at +30,000 feet, flying directly into the eye-wall, guessing relative air-speed by pitot tube. CONCLUSION: IPCC-NASA scientific published reports: "+1.1C since 1750 warming" is +0.4C per CENTURY. NASA-NOAA "+1.35mm sea level rise per year" is 1-foot in TWO CENTURIES.
