One person has been confirmed dead while three others have been rescued by police divers at Decoligny in Mthatha.
One person was swept away by flood waters after she told onlookers she saw a snake and let go of the tree.

Such a delayed responsde that people had to wait for rescue teams coing from other cities. So the OR Tambo district municipality did not have any emergency plans in place? No disaster management depart from that municipality? People been sicking form helf from the morning as they go to work or school. Its about you being used to such however plans were suppose to be in place and team on stand by the minutes weather services issued a warning. MXM ANC

That's the Eastern Cape government for you, always reactive and never proactive. Why are there no proper flood/disaster protocols in place at OR Tambo? How could small children be stuck on a tree for over 12 hours waiting for rescue as if they are in some very remote, inaccessible area? This is appalling & unacceptable!
