चीन के Guangdong province में भीषण बाढ़ आई है। भारी बारिश के बाद Guangdong province की Huaiji county में आधे से ज़्यादा सड़कें डूब गईं, internet और power supply कट हो गईं, और लगभग 30000 लोगों को evacuate करना पड़ा। Tropical storm Wutip और उसके बाद कई दिनों की भारी बारिश से Suijiang नदी में पानी बहुत ज़्यादा बढ़ गया। Suijiang नदी overflow होने लगी। पानी urban area में घुस गया जिससे यहाँ की गलियाँ मटमैले पानी के canals में तब्दील हो गईं। Southern China के कई areas इस समय भीषण बाढ़ की चपेट में हैं। Climate change के कारण Southern China की ही तरह दुनिया भर में extreme weather events की intensity और frequency बढ़ती जा रही है। मौजूदा infrastructure इसको झेलने लायक नहीं है। इसलिए आजकल हमें frequently weather related disasters देखने को मिल रहे हैं। Humans द्वारा created climate crisis से अब frequently humanitarian challenges उत्पन्न हो रहे हैं। हमें urgently urban planning के साथ-साथ climate change को भी address करने की ज़रूरत है।
