  1. Again you bring up several arguable points but in a rapid-fire (no pun intended) presentation that glosses over cause and effect. Yes the US failed Puerto Rico and continues to do so. But that's racism combined with crony capitalism – which si not – all capitalism. Solar panels and wind turbines can now compete in price – on the open market. Tesla showed what could be done with retrofitting a children's hospital in PR after Hurricane Maria. Just – i could go on an on to match you going on and on but i won't … i'm trying to encourage you to slow TF down, learn the facts on the ground, and report real stuff not just preach. Please!

  2. When Naomi Klein presents an issue, she does so calmly and gives facts. When Cenk pontificates, it's after going into facts, and being willing to self-correct along the way. Try to learn from them. Get some balance. Thanks.

  3. Hasan one more thing by balanced i don't mean don't be passionate. And if you are sure capitalism is the root of all present evils, fine, a lot of Millennials are. I'm just referring to a balance of rhetoric with factual details. Hope i'm vaguely clear :-).

  4. A 2016 study published by the Royal Society reported, тАЬThere is less fire in the global landscape today than centuries agoтАЭ and the тАЬglobal area burnedтАЭ has seen a тАЬslight decline over past decades.тАЭ The study, by Stefan Doerr and Cristina Sant├нn of Swansea University in Wales, noted that тАЬmany consider wildfire as an accelerating problem, with widely held perceptions both in the media and scientific papers of increasing fire occurrence, severity and resulting losses. However, important exceptions aside, the quantitative evidence available does not support these perceived overall trends.тАЭ

  5. Capitalism isn't actually a thing.

This isn't an example of capitalism. Capitalism is a theory. It doesn't actually exist in the real world. We aren't all engaged in some sort of dialectic in the hopes of one day proving which economic theory is right. That's not even how you prove theories anyway.

The wealthy have always used their money to protect themselves. They were doing that before the field of economics was ever created. They will always do that. Poor people also do what they can to protect themselves. That's human nature.

Wealthy people aren't using their wealth to protect themselves in order to prove capitalism to be true, and using money to protect yourself isn't capitalism.

There are some profoundly ignorant people at TYT.

Leftist systems of governments are governments that are of, by, and for the people. In countries with leftist governments, the political policies protect the people and provide for their general welfare.

    Leftist governments are called democracies.

In authoritarian governments, the political policies protect and serve the wealthy and powerful individuals in the country. The common man lives in wall to wall poverty with no hope of having a better or meaningful life. Their life is only to provide for the comfort of their rulers.

For thousands of years, societies were structured to protect the ruling class from hardship. Americans have decided to reject democracy and to return to spending their lives toiling away with no hope of a better life in order to make the wealthy comfortable.

none of this is related to an economic theory. If the Kardashians want to build a moat around their homes, they can do that in this century or three thousand years ago. They could do that even if they endorsed socialist political ideology.

If you're wanting to live in a country where there are public services that protect and serve the people, then there's only one kind of government in which one can hope for that. It's the kind of government that Americans dismantled and will never have again in their lifetimes.

Just sit back and continue to watch your country transition from being a first world country to a third world, while you try to figure out which economic theory you like better. There's no theory that will help you figure out which political policies to implement in order to have a democracy again.

  6. This will not get any better. Insurance companies work with odds. The way this planet works has changed and the odds have changed. The only way to protect yourself is by spirit itself. No way to change this.

  7. Well, the First Class DID pay for access to the few lifeboats on the Titanic. AND locked the peasant class down in steerage to ensure that the riff-raff didn't soil the Upper Class decks with their loathsome presence. Gated Communities are SO righteous!
So, what has changed? The new Aristocracy, represented SO ably by the United Drumpfs of America, LLC, will continue to act as if it is possible to safely sink half a ship (the peasant's half, of course!). If they get hungry because they run out of bread, just tell them, "Let them eat cake!"
At 1 mile from the cliff wall, with the warning road signs showing a switch-back turn with a 15 mph speed limit, America's car was doing 90. That was a long time ago, when it drove past the first warning sign. And at half a mile. And at 200 yards. Now, not only is the last warning sign coming up, but some of the passengers are screaming to slow down, too. The driver, meanwhile, just accelerated to 100 and is saying, "Wall? What wall? Yeah, we should build a wall. Tremendous idea!" It is not going to end well.

  8. So, the point of this is….
a.) Capitalism (the free exchange of goods or services) = forest fires
b.) Government should prevent people from protecting their property
c.) Government responses to disaster crises are lacking so we need more government
d.) Forcing (poor) Americans to spend way more money each month on utilities will stop forest fires
e.) A brilliant 30-something waitress should be king
    f.) TYT doesn't like Trump
