On April 16, 2025, a sudden and intense hailstorm struck Islamabad and parts of Rawalpindi, causing widespread destruction. The storm lasted approximately 35 minutes, during which large hailstones shattered vehicle windshields, damaged rooftops, and uprooted trees, leading to significant traffic disruptions.
Residents reported extensive damage to personal property, including cars and homes. The Tarnol area was among the hardest hit, with several trees uprooted and power outages reported. Emergency response teams were deployed promptly to manage traffic and initiate drainage operations.
