A severe weather system has lashed parts of New Zealand with warnings issued across the country. The South Island’s Nelson-Tasman and Marlborough districts of have declared a state of emergency after heavy rainfall caused major flooding. Meanwhile on the North Island, strong winds ripped through Auckland causing to property damage and flight cancellations.
Deputy Mayor of Nelson, Rohan O’Neill-Stevens, has urged residents at risk to evacuate immediately and call emergency services where needed.
