A variety of measures is being implemented to help locals deal with the slow and silent disaster. A Japanese Fund is an important part the larger World Bank project in providing support on scientific research, and for example, helping farmers to build water reservoirs. As part of the World Bank project, particially financed by the Japan fund, crews also measure and monitor the flow of drinking water inย La Paz and the neighboring city of El Alto to conserve the dwindling supply of water.
