Vanuatu Blames Global Warming as Cyclone Causes Nation’s Worst Climate Disaster in Recent Memory

http://democracynow.org – About half the population of the South Pacific Island state of Vanuatu has been left homeless by a devastating Category 5 cyclone that flattened buildings and washed away roads and bridges. Aid agencies say Cyclone Pam killed at least eight people, with the death toll expected to rise as rescuers reach more far-flung areas. Vanuatu has a population of about 250,000 and is made up of more than 80 islands. Disaster relief officials and relief workers are still trying to establish contact with remote islands that bore the brunt of winds of more than 185 miles per hour. We are joined by Alex Mathieson, former Vanuatu country director for the aid group Oxfam.

How can a state "blame" global warming? That sounds very unscientific. Way to mix in emotional rhetoric DM.
Why is it that any weather event is taken as proof of global warming?
I thought it was climate change. Now were back to global warming? How come you ignore scientists world wide which show climate has "changed" forever.
For fucks sake our sky was not even blue until a couple thousand years ago, well documented by cultures world wide.
You know why ice caps are shrinking in size? Well they have always done that. Expanding and contracting as climate has changed. In fact just a couple hundred years ago the ice caps were at their largest, which is why we see them decreasing in size.
Climate change is occurring and man is helping that along. Sadly many popular faces of "environmentalist" refuse to acknowledge non-man made climate change. While scientists from different fields such as geology, who look at the entirety of our Earth existence, will say otherwise.

Their houses look like Hooverville houses.If you live in a wood and tin shack,it won't take much to destroy it. If the term "global warming",now called climate change because it has been proven the globe isn't getting warmer, would have never been discussed,those shacks would fall from a good wind blowing in.

We survived Pam . All cyclones get their energy from rising sea temperatures. In this case warm seas add fuel to any cyclone. Its not rocket science
