NC has been the target for Electric Vehicles since publicly 2023 due to the vast Lithium Deposits in our mountains. Less than 10 miles from the hurricane site holds the largest lithium reserves in the world. Piedmont Lithium just ‘invested’ 600m into NC to forcibly begin mining efforts, stating that it would be an “economical boost” for the community. However, that’s not true. North Carolina already had a lithium mine in the 1980s. And it caused mass pollution and quickly lost traction with local governments, public and officials. Now all of a sudden, there’s an unprecedented hurricane, and the election is right around the corner. Now here’s the kicker, Piedmont Lithium just low key signed a contract to begin mining with the State. Axios Raleigh, a leading independent newsletter in NC just stated in quote,
“The storm hit mere days after election officials began sending absentee ballots to in-state voters. In some places, it's unclear whose ballots were delivered, received or washed away.
Early voting is set to begin in just over two weeks, and officials are still working to determine the status of many polling places.
And the deadline to register to vote — Oct. 6 — is rapidly approaching, as many in the state remain displaced and disconnected.” So NC is predominantly Republican and majority of mountaineers that was affected by the hurricane were strong Republicans. Their votes are crucial in determining whether or not NC is a red state or not. Democratic governor Roy Cooper was the one to sign the mining into place, despite the overwhelming Republican and environmental pushback. With literally days before the voting ends, it will literally make hundreds of thousands of voters unable to vote— tipping the scales for the Democratic Party to dominate the state and push for mining, that could undermine water supply (because lithium mining requires ALOT of water), nature (clearing out vast lands physically and forcibly through air, ground and water pollution).
