Saudi Arabia has pledged to be carbon-neutral by 2060, with the energy minister insisting it will still be a competitive player in the energy market.
Oil has bought Saudi Arabia regional power and global influence, and if the country moves away from oil then its position as a major player in the Middle East could be at risk.
However, if it can get its climate initiative right and make good on its ambitious promises, the country’s international reputation will be the better for it.
Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman al-Saud spoke in an exclusive interview with Sky News, saying the country can deliver.

Hey we pledge to be carbon neutral by 10000. At least we pledged mate
Because when you are looking for honestly and integrity, you go to the Saudis.
I wonder if people are aware that for plants to grow you need at least 220pm Co2. Historically weather patterns are more severe with less Co2. The Biden climate team just erased the history of wild fires from anything pre 1982 . Thet dont want people to know that wild fires are down 80% over the last 90 years. Real scientists dont erase history only politicians do and this will happen more and more as they align their massive scam of climate change.
Can’t wait 😛 oh I’ll be long dead 💀
I’m so glad Chynuh showed up to this summit and has agreed to net zero. Lol.
Here's the problem. So many countries are "pledging" to be at net zero emmissions by a certain time frame AFTER they peak their pollution production well before. Hence President Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord. Dumping BILLIONS into a deal to reach a goal before other countries all the while they keep moving the goal posts. Waste of time and money…
LOL yes starting in 2022 they will begin exporting sand at $400,000 a barrel.
So Saudi Arabia wont be producing any more Oil or Gas?
Lol
lol- what will they export? not a chance.. – any news of China? India? ….
Saudi? Why isn't the west going to war over democracy and human rights there? Saudi and Qatar funds ISIS. The worst regime on the planet, we sell them arms to destroy Yemen, yet we see fit to do so in the middle East.
If you are going to be a carbon accounting nazi you need to look at the population of a nation and the number of decades they have been using fossil fuels as well as the yearly consumption, otherwise you have not formulated an honest appraisal of how much CO2 any given nation has produced and in which order should they be stopping using it so as to not disadvantage younger nations such as Australia. The fact that they will not even talk openly about such a reasonable idea demonstrates very clearly that the entire thing is a fraud perpetrated by the nations most active in promoting it and to the detriment of those who they are forcing it upon. It is a form of political and economic imperialism and we should resist it!
Boy we can really trust the saudi Arabia
lol without oil they will be another third world islamic shithole
For everyone but us. 🤣
Lol really.
They will be back on camels by then when the oil runs out.
2050-2060? Most of these spruikers will be dead by then and fossil fuel will still be in use.
I want a nuclear battery for my E-bike.
Lol. How many trees will grow in a desert?
About the time the Saudi's run out of oil?
Haha windmills in SA
Saudi Arabia net-zero emissions, I'd like to see that!
Saving the world one head at a time.
🤣🤣😂😂😂😁
If I was a millionaire, I would be going green too…but now I cannot pay my power bills like this..
Some nice propaganda right here.
What a crock !
2060 ? Really ? Worry about THIS YEAR SAUDIS. Didn't even listen to this propaganda. Will Yemen even be In existence ?
They must have figured out when the oil will run dry.
The odd thing about Saudi Arabia is that while oil makes up 92 per cent of the nation's exports, earnings from it account for just 42 per cent of GDP overall. So they clearly have a lot more to offer. The Saudi's are not stupid. They can run an accounts ledger as well as anyone else and they can see the writing on the wall. Whatever language it is written in.
If you are looking for a way to help the environment you can switch to ecosia they are a search engine that plants trees!!!!!
Good news 🇸🇦
